Benefits Of A College Degree by DYLAN - October 2024 Scholarship Essay
As a current senior in high school, college is a big decision. I believe that college is the best pathway for me. Although there are many different viewpoints on college degrees I think there are many benefits. College degrees show an employer that someone is a hard worker, has a great interest in a certain career, and can balance life. Thus, making this person more appealing rather than someone with only a high school diploma.
In college, the classes are a lot harder than high school classes. These classes require more homework, studying, and effort. Which means it will take up more time than a high school class. Even if the class is considered an easier course the workload will still be there. Most employers, if not all employers realize this. Which means they know a college student worked hard to earn a degree. Also, when college students get more into their major classes the workload gets extremely hard. To add on, if someone gets a degree they are an expert in their field and they are determined to achieve greatness. Ultimately, making people with college degrees more employable and more successful.
In addition, there are many pathways in college. It is hard for students to find a degree that they feel accomplished in. Students have to realize their skills and interests to find the right path. It may take time to find the right path but eventually, it will come to them. Once students get this degree they have many opportunities that get unlocked. They can go pretty much anywhere in the field that they want to go into. The employers in that field will then see that the person has skills and interests many don’t. Ultimately, the degree allows college students to be more qualified for a dream job and makes them more likely to get hired for their dream job.
Furthermore, college isn’t just about school. There are clubs, sports, organizations, work, relationships, activities, and chores that interfere with studies. College students have a packed schedule and it takes a lot of discipline and skill to keep up with coursework. School is the most important part of college and when a student realizes that the degree will come easy. But either way, everyone has multiple things going on. This takes a lot of balancing and time management. These skills can be applied to anything in life and make someone very valuable. Employers see this when the degree comes up on an application. They know that people with college degrees not only have skills for the job but they also have soft skills. Soft skills are personal attributes that improve the work environment. These are very important skills and it is appealing to employers.
In conclusion, college degrees have many positives. It takes hard work and learning to achieve this but it is worth it in the end. I believe this is a successful pathway to getting a great job. College degrees show employers the hard work, determination, and skills to be successful. Students looking to get hired for a dream job should consider college and its benefits.
