College Degree=Possibilities by Eliza - October 2024 Scholarship Essay

When some people think of college, they think of parties and fun times and drinking and skipping class and everything that causes their mothers to lie in bed worrying that that’s what they're doing. But when I think about college, I think about the education and possibilities that come out of it. I envision myself walking around on a gorgeous campus to classes that want me to learn and succeed. College to me is a wonderful experience where you come to work hard, learn, and if you do everything correctly, to rest the opportunities and benefits that come from a degree of your choice.
Both my mom and dad have pushed me to get good grades, to appreciate all of the many chances I get to advance my educational experiences. A college degree comes with so many benefits such as higher pay, a better job selection, and a sense of respect towards you. Other benefits include, less likely to be unemployed, greater job security, and employers like to see that you accomplished something hard. These are just a few advantages that one can hold over others when they obtain a college degree.
A college degree also symbolizes the hard work, dedication, good qualities, late nights, early mornings, long lectures, failures and successes that came over a short 4 or more years. To me personally, a college degree is the highest form of certification for hard work and grit on doing something that most people don't want to do. Thinking about a college degree that I hope one day will be mine, fills me with a sense of accomplishment and pride. I believe that everyone should work towards that certificate of achievement and honor.
