My Biggest Academic Challenge by Ella - December 2024 Scholarship Essay

There have not been many challenging points in my academic career, but one that stands out to me was when I had ACL reconstruction surgery and was out of school for over 2 weeks. I was struggling to keep up on all of my assignments since I was balancing my Physical Therapy and getting my health to how it was. To overcome this challenge, I made sure to ask my classmates for any notes they took during class and if I needed extra help, I would email my teachers. This ended up working out in the end for me and I was able to keep up my 4.0+ gpa.
The only class that I struggled with was math, because we are always learning new things and I am a visual learner, so I have to see someone doing the problems before I am able to do them. Thankfully there were videos accessible to me during this time so that I could get my work done before the deadlines. My parents would also help me if I was unable to figure it out, even with the video.
This challenge has taught me how to never give up and to keep pushing through the hardships. I am now much more hardworking and diligent than I was before my surgery. I am thankful that I have been taught these lessons because I can use these skills to help with my future career wanting to be a doctor. This was the biggest challenge I have ever faced in my academic career.
