Deciding which teacher has impacted me the most has been one of the hardest decisions for me. Should I base it off of academic growth? Personal growth? Both? All these questions flooded my mind, until I reflected on what a teacher is supposed to be: someone who instructs and influences. Now that the question is of who has instructed and influenced me the most I am confident in saying Mrs. Regan, my AVID teacher. While technically she has only been my teacher the past two years I have had the opportunity to connect and work with her since freshman year. Mrs.Regan has been there to help guide and support me through my college decisions; the decision to apply early and accept my offer for Iowa State University and the decision to major in Chemical Engineering. And while these decisions will shape the rest of my life through the friends I’ll make and the career path I’ll follow, I believe the most influential way Mrs.Regan has affected me is not academically but personally. She is always there for me to turn to no matter what the situation is. I’ve liked teachers in the past but not enough to truly confide in them, Mrs. Regan was there for me to not only support but uplift me as I faced the biggest challenge and heartbreak of my life. She has never made me feel lesser or humiliated and she has truly been there for me in every aspect of my life, this is why she’s the teacher that has impacted me the most.
