My Days; through a planner by Kara - December 2024 Scholarship Essay

Academics has always been a top priority to me. But one thing that was always a challenge when it came to my academics was sports. Luckily, I’ve been able to learn and grow over the years.

I started playing competitive travel softball in the 6th grade, which was around the same time I started to get involved with high school classes. Ever since I was little I always tried to keep my grades up, hoping to get that test hung up on the fridge. But, when sports started to become just as much as a priority I started to slack off on my academics. I began not caring about some classes, brushing off homework, procrastinating until the last minute. Even though my grades were still high, I still had a lot of stress.

When high school started I switched teams ti join a national one, knowing how much more work would have to be put into it. As well as trying to balance my social life, it all became very hard. I started to doubt myself as classes were becoming harder as I was getting older. It was not until my junior year I learned to balance everything out by started to plan out my days.

In this planner I would make time for everything. Friends, sports, and even academics. I was finally able to balance my workload that allowed me to become less stressed.

After all the years I have played softball, I would not trade it for anything. I was lucky enough to figure out how to cope with all the things going on in my life. In college I plan to keep up the high grades, as well as the high softball performance while attending Otterbein University.
