Discuss a teacher or mentor who has had a significant impact on your educational journey. by Laci - January 2025 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my highschool career I had a specific person who helped me tremendously through school. Since my freshman year I have volunteered in the Elementary office. The secretary there gave me so much advice about schooling and even about college. She asked me everyday how my college search was going, and congratulated me on getting acceptances. She has helped me understand homework and showed me different ways to do it.
The elementary secretary is always the kindest person. She is wise and even talks about her experiences in school to show you are not alone and others have gone through the same thing. One of the things she said to me that will always stick with me is “stay true to yourself.” She repeated this to me so much making sure I based it on me and not what others wanted.
She is one of those people that is so willing to help and give out to people that need it. Even if it’s just a listening ear. With how stressful senior year has been trying to decide what college is right, what career path to take, financial aid, making sure I have all the graduation requirements she has been there working through it with me the entire time. She recently just retired so It’s much different without her; but her advice and information she provided me will not be forgotten and will be carried with me.
