My name is Myranda Leftwich, and I am a rising freshman at Towson University. I am planning to major in Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Med, Healthcare Assistant, Animal Sciences, and Biology. My high school GPA was 3.8, and I am proud to be a Black woman pursuing higher education.

What motivates me to pursue my academic goals is thinking about the future I want to build for myself and the stories I can share with my future children. I want to motivate them to aim high and achieve more than I ever could. I believe that by working hard now, I can create a better life for myself and inspire my kids to do the same.

I stay focused on my goals by reminding myself of the bigger picture. I know that every class I take and every hour I spend studying brings me one step closer to becoming a healthcare professional. I have always been interested in helping others, and I believe that a career in healthcare will allow me to make a real difference in people's lives. This passion keeps me motivated, even when the work gets tough.

I also stay focused by setting small, achievable goals. Breaking down my larger goals into smaller tasks makes them feel more manageable and helps me stay on track. For example, if I have a big exam coming up, I will create a study schedule and tackle one chapter at a time. This approach helps me stay organized and reduces stress.

Another way I stay motivated is by surrounding myself with supportive people. My family and friends believe in me and my dreams, and their encouragement helps me stay positive and focused. I also seek out mentors and advisors who can offer guidance and support as I navigate my academic journey.

In conclusion, my motivation comes from my desire to create a better future for myself and my future children. I stay focused by setting small goals, staying organized, and surrounding myself with supportive people. I am committed to working hard and achieving my academic goals, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you for considering me for the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest.
