During my first semester at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, I faced one of the most challenging academic experiences of my life. Adjusting to a new educational system as an international student proved far more demanding than I had anticipated. I struggled with understanding lectures in English, adapting to American teaching methods, and balancing the heavy coursework with limited resources.

One of the most difficult subjects for me was behavioral psychology. While I found the content fascinating, it was full of complex terms and theories that I struggled to memorize and understand. My first few quizzes reflected my difficulties, and I began to doubt my ability to succeed in the class. This academic challenge was compounded by homesickness and cultural differences, which often left me feeling isolated.

To overcome these challenges, I developed a strategic approach. First, I started breaking down large topics into manageable sections, studying a little each day instead of cramming. I also created flashcards and incorporated visual learning techniques that helped me retain difficult concepts. Second, I sought support from my professor and classmates by attending office hours and participating in study groups. Finally, I realized the importance of prioritizing my mental health and incorporated short walks, meditation, and journaling into my routine to relieve stress.

These efforts paid off, and my grades improved significantly by the end of the semester. This experience taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of seeking help when needed. It has shaped me into a more confident and resourceful student, prepared to face future challenges head-on.
