Having the Right Heart by Rachael - February 2014 Scholarship Essay
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” This quote inspires me to put my all into every task that I participate in which coincides perfectly with this time in my life as I begin to prepare to go to college and build my future. It also says to have the right motives in whatever you do. I want everything that I do to find pleasure with God because I do not want to do anything just to please the people around me.
This quote from the Bible is a guideline of how I need to live my life. My attitude and intentions need to be right in the big and little things that I do. I decided I want to become a nurse and this gives me the perfect opportunity to work not just for money but to help others and be a witness to people in the way I act. I want to put my whole heart in my work and show that I genuinely care.
This quote can also go along with my time at college. I want to put everything I have into my education and my future. Education is so important and I want to put my 100% effort into it leaving with no regrets. It will be like my walk with God. The more devotion I put into it the better the outcome of it. I will be blessed if my purpose is for the right reasons.
I do not mean to be pushy about my religion but I believe for me it makes me want to live to my highest standards. This quote serves as a reminder to me not to get caught or lost in the world but to put my whole heart in soul into whatever comes my way and do it for God.
