How Lee changed me by Robert - January 2025 Scholarship Essay

I am an avid student. In the past four years, I have taken three classes with the same intention: GO TO COLLEGE. Yet this message never truly affected me. "College is a scam" was a consistent thought during those times. At best, I would have gone to a local community college. Then I met Mrs. Lee. I could tell from the beginning that she truly cared about us and our futures, so I listened. The more she talked about college, the more I wanted to go. It was a very long journey from where I was to where I needed to be: many trips to the counselor, staying after school to get more work done, and even late nights added to my schedule. But I got my stuff in order and applied. It was only recently when I got my first acceptance, and it made me reflect on life. Not but a year ago, I was dismissing college as nothing but a waste of time and money. But as I sat there, I knew my life trajectory had changed forever in a great way. Mrs. Lee is the greatest motivation I've had in years, and I will never thank her enough.
