It's not that bad, I promise by Romana - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

Freshmen year is not as intimidating as it seems. While, it may turn out to be the best fun-filled year out of your high school career, you still should do what you need to in order to make it. If you start to fool around in your first year of high school, it might turn into a bad habit for the years to come. Therefore, guidelines can help throughout this phase. In order to survive the year, you must learn some basic rules and try to stick with them for the next four years of high school. You have to be prepared to do some work, but also have fun while you're at it! What you learn during these four memorable years will most likely stay with you for the rest of your lives.

One piece of advice that may help is to study hard. This will be of help both in school and in life. The best way to pass a class is to know what the teacher is talking about; make sure to learn the material while in class. Don't understand something? Ask! It's okay to ask questions, because it might end up that another fellow student has the same question and it will not only benefit you in the long run. Studying long and hard will also become a habit, which is a good habit to obtain. Build on good studying habits, such as reading and researching, for it will most definitely come in handy in the future.
